With a deep sense of gratitude and care, Tithe Green Natural Burial Ground, a cherished family-run company spanning three generations, is honoured to announce the opening of our newest natural burial site in Markfield, Leicestershire. This expansion is a heartfelt step in our mission to provide more families across the Midlands with the gentle, eco-friendly resting places they seek for their loved ones.

Nestled in the tranquil village of Markfield, our new 20-acre site is a haven of peace and natural beauty. As you approach, you’ll be welcomed by the timeless charm of the English countryside, with its hedgerows and open landscapes offering a comforting embrace. The site itself is a living sanctuary—a nature reserve where broad-leaved trees, hedging plants, grassy glades, herbs, and shrubs create a nurturing home for a diverse array of birds, mammals, and insects.

To those who have entrusted us with the care of their loved ones under the previous management of Markfield Natural Burial Ground, we want to extend our heartfelt assurance that nothing will change in how you honour and visit them or any prepaid plots. The transition to our management will be seamless, with the previous owner, John Hooper, working closely with us to ensure a smooth and respectful handover.

James O’Donnell, co-owner, shares, “At Tithe Green, we are devoted to helping people realize that they have the gentle choice to return to nature when they pass. The opening of our third site in Markfield allows us to reach more families who wish to honour their loved ones in a serene and natural environment that cherishes both the individual and the Earth.”

Our offerings at Tithe Green are rooted in simplicity and reverence, providing three types of natural burial services:

  1. Natural Burial – A full burial using only natural materials, honouring the natural cycle of life.
  2. Natural Burial of Ashes – The tender interment of cremated remains in a peaceful, natural setting.
  3. Unattended Cremation and Natural Burial of Ashes – A simple, unattended cremation followed by the natural burial of ashes, allowing for quiet reflection.

We take immense pride in preserving the natural beauty and tranquillity of our burial grounds, ensuring they remain places of peace and respect for all who visit. Our Markfield site is open every day of the year, and we warmly invite anyone interested in our services to experience the serene environment we have cultivated.

As we look to the future, our hearts are full of hope and commitment to opening more Tithe Green Natural Burial Grounds across the UK. Families from all over the country have found solace with us, and we welcome you to reach out to learn more.
