Natural burial is about becoming part of nature
We’re here to guide you through a sequence of choices from the site of burial to the approach, setting and other details. We can help you move quickly or slowly, whether you’re making arrangements for now or in the future. Options range from £850 to around £2,500 depending on your choices.

Our natural burial sites
Our natural burial sites are humming with life: trees sway in the breeze, bees carry pollen from wildflower to wildflower. We take great care of these beautiful, biodiverse spaces, open to visitors all day, every day.
We currently have four sites, three in the East Midlands and one in the North East, and we’ll be opening more around the UK in time. Our locations are of course convenient for those living nearby, but people visit Tithe Green from all over the country — we don’t have a catchment policy, you can be based anywhere.
Our approaches
Natural burial is about using natural materials only, so all of our approaches avoid any plastics, metals or toxic chemicals.
All four of our approaches to natural burial can be attended or unattended, it’s entirely up to you. Attended natural burials can be very special, and we’re used to accommodating all manner of requests, from simple gatherings to full Star Wars themed shenanigans. We’re not event planners ourselves but we can guide you towards good funeral directors, celebrants and other helpful people if you need.
Natural burial
(from £1,975)
This means burying a person in a biodegradable coffin using only natural materials, either within woodland (a tree and plaque are planted alongside) or a wildflower meadow (a plaque is placed).
Natural interment of ashes
(from £875)
This means burying ashes in the ground in a biodegradable container. As with our main natural burial approach, at our Midlands sites this can be within woodland (with a tree and plaque) or a wildflower meadow (plaque). At our County Durham site, ashes are interred beneath established trees in our woodland (with a plaque).
Direct cremation + natural interment of ashes
(from £1,975)
This means enlisting us to arrange an unattended, direct cremation and burial of ashes in the ground in a biodegradable container. As with all approaches, burial of ashes can be attended or unattended.
Memorial tree without burial
(from £750)
This means planting a tree in someone’s memory without a burial taking place. This too can be attended or unattended. All trees are accompanied by a welsh slate plaque with a bespoke inscription.
Our settings
With all of our approaches at our Midlands sites (Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland) you can choose from either a woodland or wildflower meadow setting. Wildflower meadow burials take place all year round. Woodland burials are also year-round, except for tree planting and burial of ashes, which take place between November and February. At our site in County Durham (Blue House), we offer woodland burial only. Instead of planting memorial trees, we dedicate established trees in our mature woodland, so burials or interments here can take place all year round.
Woodland
Woodland burials involve tree planting, boosting the habitat for birds and natural wildlife. Our woodlands are peaceful places to visit, and it’s lovely seeing the trees inch taller over time. Adjacent plots aren’t possible here.

Wildflower meadow
Wildflower meadows are home to vital insects and other pollinators like butterflies and our increasingly endangered bees. We place plaques instead of trees in these colourful, changing spaces. Adjacent plots are possible here.
