Guided Grief Support at Tithe Green Natural Burial
By George Cox
Guided Grief Groups at Tithe Green
Grief is not something that needs fixing, and it is not something anyone should have to carry alone.
Our new Guided Grief Groups are a gentle extension of our existing initiative: the Memory Mile Walks we host once per month. These groups have been created for those in our community who have someone resting at one of our natural burial sites and who may value a regular space to come together with others who truly understand.
These sessions are not designed to “fix” grief. There is no expectation to share - you can simply come to meet others in the community and sit and listen to a talk hosted by the facilitator.
Put simply, these groups offer a safe and supportive place for people to come once a month where they do not need to hide how they feel, explain themselves, or be anything other than where they are.
Everyone who attends is walking their own unique path of loss. What unites us is simple: we are a community who get it.
What to expect
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at each of our natural burial sites, in Oxton, Ketton and Markfield. At 10am, we gather in the car park and take a gentle walk through the grounds as part of our Memory Mile. It is an unhurried stroll - time to breathe, notice the seasons changing around us, and connect with others.
Our dedicated facilitator will join us on the walk, offering a relaxed opportunity for us to get to know one another.
At around 10:30am, we will gather in a set location close to the burial sites for tea, coffee and biscuits as we move into a guided session lasting approximately 30-40 minutes.
You are welcome to:
- Join us just for the walk, which will not be changing
- Come only for the guided session
- Or stay for both.
There are no expectations here. You may simply sit quietly and observe, or you may choose to share your thoughts and experiences. It is entirely up to you.
The guided sessions
Each session is gently facilitated by a certified therapist and will include:
- Thoughtful learning around grief (for example, understanding the stages of grief or what happens in the body when we experience loss).
- Simple reflective or grounding exercises such as journalling prompts, noticing practices, or ways to maintain continuing bonds with those we love.
- Space for optional sharing, conversation, or quiet reflection.
The sessions will follow a drop-in format, so some months there may be just a few of us. Other months there may be more. The size of the group may change, but the intention remains the same: to offer steady, compassionate support and learning within a familiar place.
This is a relaxed and informal way to connect with others in the Tithe Green community, gain gentle guidance that may support you in navigating your grief, and spend time in the company of people who understand.
You do not have to carry it alone, and you are welcome exactly as you are.
Things to note
Our Guided Grief Groups will begin on the following days:
From Wednesday 4th March at Oxton with Louise McQuade at The Keep

Louise McQuade is a fully qualified, BACP-registered counsellor based in Nottinghamshire. After 25 years working in education, she felt called to train in counselling - a path that has since become her life’s work.
Louise holds a degree in Humanistic (Person-Centred) counselling and specialises in supporting people as they process loss and begin to adapt to life around it. She also has experience working with trauma, life transitions, anxiety, and the many other ways grief can show up in our lives.
Her approach is warm, compassionate and deeply respectful. As a Person-Centered therapist, Louise works at your pace. You choose what to bring. She walks alongside you - offering a safe and non-judgmental space where you can speak freely and be truly heard.
“Whoever you are, and whatever you’re going through, it is easier with someone alongside you.”
From Wednesday 1st April at Markfield with Mirka Grohn at location tbc

Founder of Onni therapy and based in Leicestershire, Mirka is a qualified relational psychotherapist with a background in psychology.
Mirka has extensive experience supporting adults navigating grief, trauma, major life changes and complex family dynamics. She provides a steady, compassionate and non-judgmental space where grief can be spoken, witnessed, and gently held. Mirka believes that grief is not something to be hurried or fixed, but honoured - unfolding in its own time.
The name ‘Onni’ means ‘happiness’ or ‘contentment’ in Finnish, and at the heart of Mirka’s work is the belief that even in sorrow, there can be moments of connection, meaning, and quiet steadiness. Through our guided grief groups at our natural burial grounds, Mirka hopes the rhythms of nature will offer a gentle reminder that all of life moves in cycles and seasons.
“You are welcome here, exactly as you are, however you may be feeling.”
From Wednesday 6th May at Ketton with Nicky Wilkinson at location tbc

Nicky Wilkinson is a qualified, BACP-registered counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
Nicky provides a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace. Her approach is warm and empathetic. Nicky believes that while we are the experts in our own lives, having someone alongside to listen, reflect, and help you see patterns or new perspectives can be invaluable.
Through her work, Nicky supports people navigating grief, loss, and life transitions, helping them process difficult emotions, find balance, and develop ways to cope with life’s challenges. She is guided by the principle that counselling is about finding your own answers with someone to listen, support, and gently guide along the way.
“Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, but you do not need to carry it alone.”
