Our natural burial sites are uplifting places to visit, buzzing with nature and wildlife all year round.

Natural burial is a simple way to become part of nature when we die. There are lots of benefits:

Nature lives on. With natural burial, you become a gift to the trees, flowers, and bumble bees, buzzing off into a colourful future that never stops.
Why become pollution? Nature’s got enough chemicals, plastic and non-biodegradable material to deal with. Plant a tree or some meadow. Help nature breathe.
People love visiting. Unlike a cemetery, our natural burial sites are inviting and friendly. Bring a picnic, walk the dog, spend an hour or a day.
Open to everyone. With a lighter touch on materials, natural burial costs less. It’s open to all people and faiths. And it’s the oldest: our ancestors did it.

Are the burial grounds only for certain religions or for those living in the area?

Our natural burial sites are open to absolutely everyone, wherever you live and whatever your religion. We welcome services of all kinds.

Are Tithe Green’s natural burial sites open to the public?

Yes they are, and visitors are welcome anytime, any day of the week, with no appointment necessary.

Where are the Tithe Green natural burial grounds?

We currently have three sites – at Oxton in Nottinghamshire, Ketton in Rutland and Markfield in Leicestershire.

Are natural burial sites, memorial trees and plaques kept in place forever?

The longevity of our sites is guaranteed by strict regulations that require our sites to remain as burial grounds for at least 100 years after the last plot is sold. When any of our sites become full, we intend for them to become public access woodland and meadows.
